Schluter Shower Kit
The Schluter Shower Kit is an integrated family of products that together form a fully bonded, watertight assembly for tiled showers. Unlike shower pan liners in conventional assemblies, bonded waterproof membranes, such as Schluter Kerdi, bond directly to the mortar bed and protect it from becoming saturated with regular use.
The integrated Schluter Shower System eliminates the potential for leakage, efflorescence, and mold growth in the system, is maintenance free, and dramatically reduces total installation time to ensure success and make shower installation easier than ever. Schluter prefabricated shower substrates provide an alternative to shower bases constructed of mortar. The shower tray and curb are especially useful in large-scale, repetitive jobs, such as hotels, apartments, and condominiums for the significant time savings that can be realized.
The Schluter Shower System can be used in steam showers as Schluter Kerdi waterproofing membrane has a low water vapor permeance (0.75 perms), allowing it to function both as a waterproofing membrane and vapor retarder in steam showers.

Components included in a Schluter Shower Kit:
The Schluter shower tray and curb are made of expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam with a high compressive strength (57 psi). They are extremely strong and will support the load of a typical tile shower install. In fact, the tray and curb will support glass doors and glass block walls. Both the tray and curb can be cut down or trimmed to fit any size shower. If trimming the tray, make sure that you are taking the same amounts off of each side. This will maintain the correct pitch and slope.
This Schluter Shower System can be installed using a 1/4" x 3/16" V-notched trowel. Mix your thin-set mortar to a fairly fluid consistency (but still able to hold a notch) and solidly embed the Kerdi waterproofing membrane into the fresh mortar with the flat side of the trowel. It is good practice to periodically lift a corner of the waterproofing membrane after embedding it in the thin-set mortar to check the fleece for full coverage.
